Well, I can imagine somebody wanting "to take off" like a plane or "to take off" some clothes, even I can "figure out" what imply "to hold off" doing something. But "to pull oneself together" meaning to controlate oneself... what a wonderful phrasal!
Hello everybody... Newbie here!!! Well, I've found all these verbs quite interesting... Sometimes, you can "figure out" their meanings, according to the content of the conversation o text you are reading o listening to. But I think it's a bit risky to "make up" new verbs and I usually ask when needed. Nice post. P.S.: I haven't answered anything else because of my lack of free time, but I'm trying from now on.
