My favourite one is "black and white" why? well, because in my opinion this is the first collation we learn unconsciously, the easiest and one of the most useful one. In addition, we have a lot of examples in different fields, for instance in music, have you listened to the song "Black and White" by Michael Jackson? This is a great example :-)

My favourite collocation is TAKE A BREAK, because I usually need it one.
Mine it is "take an interest in" because I have just learnt what it means and I really like it.

In my opinion "make an effort" is a bit interesting due to the fact that we have to make plenty of efforts in our lifes.
