Saint Patrick's Day

Today it is going to be you feeding the blog. I would like you to do some research and tell me where it is an important date, why and how it is celebrated, and your experience of that date if you have any.
I might even treat you to an Irish beer if you do a good job.

I've just watched a movie that moved me to tears from the very begining. It was a love story with Ireland in the background. No better place to dream of love, magic and going back to one's roots. Saint Patrick, the clover and the green color are Ireland and make me think of home.

Greetings from Cleveland (Lakewood) Ohio where St. Patrick's day is celebrated extensively: drinks are colored green, a parade that goes through downtown, some schools are inofficially closed (due to too many irish descendants)....and many people will take a vacation day... Me? As a German...I watch from the distant....however i had a very good memory of this day 2 years ago as it was on a Saturday: ran 10 miles and went for a bike ride 30 miles in 70 degrees weather in March...unheard of. Yes i know - not too Irish. Tomorrow? We will be lucky if it will be 30 degrees. For meat lover there is the corned beef dish, accompanied with a green colored beer... Finally not to forget the shamrock plant. My dear friend Joe who is Irish is ready to celebrate tomorrow going to the parade and then what happens in Cleveland stays in Cleveland.....

Attached an article published today in the newspaper...enjoy ...no matter what background and have the green beer...as I will.

I've never celebrated St.Patrick's though I love the name :) I'm sorry!
But I learnt from a TV show that in the US they "pinch" people who don't wear green on St.Paddy's. That probably makes you meet some new friends... and some slaps also.

St. Patrick's day remembers me of my year in the states when I was an au pair. We have celebrated this event in downtown Cleveland. There was a nice parade with lots of people in green cloths, green beer and Irish music. Me as a Dutch girl, like the German girl, just went there to have fun. Here in Holland we don't celebrate St. Patrick's day, but I wish every one a nice St. Patrick's day. Have fun 🍀😊🎉

I have fond memories of celebrating St Paddy's day in Glasgow during my time there as a student. There is a strong Irish presence in Glasgow and so it is very popular to go out and join the celebrations! There is always a buzzing atmosphere on March 17th with many partygoers wearing an item of green clothing and bands playing traditional Irish music in the pubs until the early hours of the morning. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
